Children’s Level, Junior Level, and Pre-Professional memberships cannot be cancelled early. The full 10 months must be committed to in order to receive the rate listed. Early cancellation requires an early cancellation penalty fee that is equivalent to two months of tuition, paid in full upon cancellation.

Downgrading memberships is to be handled in the same fashion. The full 10 months must be committed to. To downgrade, one must pay two more full months of the current rate before dropping down to the new rate.

Drop off & Pick up:

Please note that teachers are not required to watch students outside of the building as they will be preparing for the next class. Please be ready to pick up your student. If a student’s ride is running late, students should wait in the studio lobby for safety purposes.

Please do not enter the studio while classes are in session. If you need to pick-up your student early or communicate with your student while they are in class, please ask talk to the staff in the lobby before entering so as not to disrupt the class.

If students are late they are expected to wait at the door until the teacher has acknowledged their presence to minimize that class disturbances. Students will not be admitted to class 10 minutes after class time starts. Class is designed to start with a warmup that helps avoid injuries. If this warmup is missed (the first 10 minutes of class especially), it is not safe for the student to take the rest of the class, and the late entrance distracts the other students.

Attendance/Absence/Makeups:

If possible, please notify the studio email if there will be an absence (LABS@pdalosalamitos.com).  If you need to schedule a makeup, you can do so in a level similar or lower to the one you are currently enrolled in. For students on membership plans, classes need to be made up within 7 days before or after the missed class. Classes do not roll over. Once this period has passed, the class credit has been lost.

Student & Guardian Conduct:

Students and guardians are expected to practice studio etiquette while inside the studio. Studio etiquette includes proper classroom behavior, studio care (outlined above), and upholding the values that make Premier Dance Arts of Los Alamitos a safe space. All students, regardless of age, are expected to listen to the teacher. Students should not talk in class unless they are asked a question or have raised their hand and are called on by their teacher. Students should be attentive and follow general classroom instructions. Students not participating in these policies will be asked to sit down during class until they are willing to rejoin or until class finishes. Students are to be courteous to their fellow students. Any bullying, harassment, or intolerance will not be allowed.

If there is another class right afterward, dancers are expected to clear the studio space in a timely manner for the next class to join the space.

Since our lobby is small and intimate, adult and teen dancers are asked not to loiter in the lobby after class. There is space outside on the terrace to congregate and cool down, so we please ask to reserve our lobby for parents and guardians.

Guardians are expected to drop off and pick up students on time, and communicate any concerns, absences, lateness, etc.

Family Observation:

Currently, guardians are only allowed to stay in the studio for their dancer’s Free-Trial class, or during any private lessons for their student.

It is important that parents remain as quiet as possible so students can hear the music and focus. We must keep the disturbances in the class to a minimum. Do not call out to your student during class as this distracts and confuses the student from following teacher instructions, and interferes with the focus of other students as well. If you need to pull your student out of class during class time, please let the instructor know before class begins.

Physical Cueing:

Dance instruction includes respectful physical cueing to help dancers feel certain muscles and alignments needed to execute technique. If you would prefer not to be touched or receive this instruction, please notify the studio in writing and remind your instructor before each class to ensure a positive and safe environment.

Performances:

It is the policy of Los Alamitos Ballet School that LABS students who are concurrently attending other ballet studios are not eligible to perform at our recitals and performances if it interferes with rehearsal time.
